Great team! Rewarding Commission! Hard work!
Pros
Firstly, the company is experiencing a huge transformation and this is definitely for the better. In the next few months a rebrand will be taking place and the new office space is great. The team members are amazing and I particularly had a great Pod leader and Manager looking out for me. I really appreciated their help when I wasn’t succeeding as well as I hoped. If you work hard, you will earn well. I saw people flourish who had started at the same time as me, with their pay packets looking full. If you want and KNOW you want a career in sales, GDS could be the place. I only had to work a 1-9 shift 3x - they really are not strict on this as long as you can show you are worth the the hours. I did 8:30-5 everyday near enough, and that helped me with my work life balance greatly. My leaving was due to not enjoying the style of work and not having the self motivation - that doesn’t mean it’s a bad company, it just wasn’t my brew.
Cons
With MTB there are targets that I found extremely difficult to hit. Granted I was new to sales but I struggled to maintain a consistency and I found that hard due to the KPIs in place. Others however as mentioned in the pros, flourished and succeeded. It really is about self motivation and how you approach the work. Work hard play hard. Don’t get distracted. Lots of people dislike the focus on cold calling but I found that technique my personal favourite approach to the job. If you don’t have a self motivating personality, there isn’t really a lot for you at GDS - but I think that would be the same in any sales job.
