Pros

There's a fair sense of community among the people working here. Some are members of one family. For the lifers, there is certainly a Freddy's Family, and they are happy with the way they're taken care of.

Cons

There is room to negotiate salary. When i was hired, I learned I was making considerably more than a veteran with children. He should have had his wages raised a long while ago.

Regular raises based on hours worked, flexible hours for those in school, advancement opportunities, union for cashier/grocery side, medical insurance offered for working 100 hours a month (may have changed since I left).

Cons

CUSTOMERS!!!!!!!! I've worked in other retail stores, and never have I experienced such horrendous customers than I did when grocery cashiering. Some co-worker drama.

Made more money here at the hourly rate after enough time was put in; co-workers are mostly all awesome, fun people; generally a fun work environment; because you could not be guaranteed full time (all grocery store environments are like this, it's sometimes a struggle to get hours) taking time off was difficult and could easily be scheduled in advance and was almost always approved if reasonable; HR was pretty great too!; great employee discount on just about everything with a barcode

Cons

Garden City at night can be scary, lots of meth-heads will wander in and steal a lot and just be freaky in general; the newer female front end manager is absolutely completely awful, words cannot explain how crappy she is; it can be slow at nights but sometimes that can make it more fun
