Pros
Great people, easy to make friends. Friendly customers. You may qualify for long hours (30+) if you are a "runner" or befriend a manager. Allowed 10 minute break before lunch. Can be late to/from lunch regardless of shift. May be scheduled 4-10 or 6-10, and only have 2-3 scheduled days in the week. Leaves you plenty of time for activities. You can be the worst employee and still have your job. You can drop out of college to become a manager. :) Managers are sympathetic to your personal life and will give you shorter hours to accommodate your needs. Sales leads are extremely confident in their ability to lead the employees, without having a manager's title.
Cons
Employees have been removed from the schedule without notice. Probation is on-call, regardless of where you live. Most employees are fired after probation regardless of your performance. Managers are unprofessional at best. Must befriend them in order to get hours. Managers walk around with blue clipboards to quiz you while you are helping a customer... that is all they do. Must push credit cards to customers and lie. You must tell them it is a store rewards or credit program; essentially misleading them into a product that can ruin their credit. They will call you in at 7am for mandatory "workshop". During weekdays "downstairs" closes EARLIER than scheduled. Expect to get a full hour at 10pm but leave at 9:15pm. "Downstairs" associates will not help "upstairs". You will be left until 10:15 or later to finish the store. THERE IS NO AC!! HAS NOT BEEN WORKING FOR 2 YEARS!! Temperature is 80-90 during the day through summer. You might qualify for a $0.20 raise after 1 year... most employees do not qualify. Restrooms are disgusting. Bloody tampons still in toilet after 1 year, urine stains around mens' urinals. Women must deposit soiled tampons/pads under the washroom sink. Mens toilets clog often and rumored to flood. Roaches and ants in the breakroom sometimes come onto the floor. Refrigerators often unplugged by employees leading to rotten food and roaches getting into the refrigerators.
