Pros

to meet new people, see new merchandise before it is shopped, ability to wear regular clothing (rather than a uniform)

Cons

The managers are cold and unapproachable. Countless scheduling problems. Schedules are not posted in a timely manner. four hour work weeks, embarassingly low pay. an 85,000 square foot store with no in-store human resources team, no clerical, no system or database for locating merchandise, no phone operator. Many associates and managers openly break dress code (excess cleavage, tattoos showing). Managers act unprofessionally, talk in slang (super annoying) and waste time chatting with other managers or associates. Doing go backs is an endlessly frustrating and impossible task because we have a huge store with two levels and there is not real system that determines where merchandise goes. It is organized by "trend", but there are often difficulties distinguishing what goes where when there are similar elements in different sections. For example, there is distressed denim in one section, acid wash in another, and grommets in yet another section. Where does something go when it is acid washed, distressed, AND has grommets?? There is no way to know for sure.

Pros

Dress Code is super strict, Able to show individualism, Laid back attitude, gaining valuable retail experience in one of the only companies that is flourishing in this economy, decent music that plays while you work.

Cons

Where do I start? No recognition, poor customer service, poor training of sales associates, no training for managers, no frat. policy is enforced, managers go to bars and hang out with associates, associates have no respect for the management team because they think of them as friends, associates have major attitude problems. Everyone is EXTREMELY underpaid for the work and time they put in... our associates get 7.75/hr, Assistant Managers get 13/hr, CO- Managers get 14/hr, I don't even wanna know what the Store Manager makes probably 17/hr I've heard. What kind of growing company doesn't have the assets to properly pay their staff? Very high turnover rate. LONG days... clock in at 2pm... clock out sometimes past 2am. Overtime is never approved, they just cut your monday or tuesday shifts. Never EVER get 2 days off in a row. Awful return policy for customers. Even MORE awful return policy for employees. Everything an employee buys is final sale (you cant even exchange let alone bring back). LOUSY 10% Discount (Charlotte Russe gives 40%). You can't even use your discount for sale items, only full price items. Lunch break is only 30 mins long. Customers are always angry. Store is always a mess. Theft is a HUGE issue. Poorly run store overall and poorly managed. Visuals and Sales work against each other. No team feel. Very Cliquey. Worse than high school.

Pros

It's a fast paced environment, and there are plenty of opportunities for advancement. Our customers, for the most part, are people who are interested in the same things that we are: cheap fashion that doesn't necessarily LOOK cheap. You learn something new at work every day, and this job has taught me a lot about the world outside of the college bubble. If you like to work hard and stay busy at work, then this might be the place for you too.

Cons

It is not for the faint of heart. You have to be willing to stick yourself out there and make the best of it, because the store changes every day. Literally. And you won't always be recognized and patted on the back for just keeping up, but it's what you have to do to get the job done. Honestly though, it's the most fun I've had in retail, and it's probably the only place I'd want to be.
