Pros

Clean office space, level blinds, industry in-line benefits, decent co-workers if they have not left yet, Supposed to be 37.5 hour days

Cons

Brain drain in full swing as of 4/2014. 60 of ~100 departed IT staff since 2012. 3 10 year+ IT veterans left since 3/2014. Many many more 5+ year vets are among the 60 above. People are leaving because the expectations are not reasonable. One development group was told to expect to be on call 24 x 7 x 365. Many if not most are over 65 hours already. Consider that offer and divide it by about 2 to get an accurate hourly salary. Have you ever seen such an unprecidented IT recruitment effort? Better ask yourself why that might be before you accept folks! The IT management and Senior Management treats IT horribly in that company and those that leave report that it is nothing short of a relief. Buffalo is a pretty small IT world, ask around...

Rapid Growth Rapid Change Equals Opportunity

Pros

Dedicated team, nice office environment, great benefits and comp package, engaged senior management, positive technology changes and much needed updates finally occurring, knowledgeable staff, company growth. Fidelis is poised for continued growth. The mission is reiterated from the top down. Communication to all employee levels occurs on a regular consistent basis. Highly Visible "C" level team. Many new positions created to support growth. Some have said high turn-over - every company has turn over, but it has been a long time since so many new positions have been created in a New York based company.

Cons

Company growth - it is rapid and we are experiencing growing pains. Some tenured employees are resistant to change; throw up road blocks to moving foward. Hear a lot of reasons why things can't be done versus how we can accomplish things. Technology was not kept up to date, has lead to end user frustration. Some processes are more cumbersome than need to be. Proper planning not always done, some think there is an "easy button". I am not micro managed, and don't necessarily think the "C" or SR. team does, but could understand how that is perceieved. They are some of the most highly engaged compared to other organizations. Some HR policies are outdated. Work life balance is challenge in some areas. Many new positions created as a result to support the growth and work in IT, Finance, Claims, Marketing etc.

Very poor experience

Pros

Mission is very laudable and is a driver for good people to want Fidelis care to succeed.

Cons

You are expected to work at least 60 hrs per week and on every holiday. Do that, not be allowed to take any time off for your probationary time period, receive no complaints time and then they go out of their way to make excuses which they don't even have to tell your because your are on probation to get rid of you before the end of your probation time period. Do yourself all a favor and do not take a permanent job here unless you are jobless and have no other alternative.
