Pros

Throughout my time at FIS, I have always had knowledgeable, hard-working colleagues. My direct managers (of which I've had several) have been a mix of incompetent and capable, but for the most part have been very good managers. In my experience the company has been fairly flexible regarding working from home and granting time off.

Cons

There is little to no room for advancement within the company, unless you like to take on more responsibility without any significant pay increase. It is very political and promotions seem to be granted based on how well an employee plays politics rather than according to ability. It is extremely difficult to get a raise above 3%. Upper management seems extremely out of touch with what actually motivates employees. The company is highly bureaucratic. Communication from management and between departments could be better.

Pros

Salaries for new hires are competitive Lots of job openings in a tough economy

Cons

Salaries for long term employees will fall way behind market - they do not take care of their current employees -- get what you can coming in - you won't see much after that. Staff has been cut back way to far - lots of people in foul moods - way too much work to do, not enough people to do it - lots of people are just pissed and it is showing up in meetings, emails etc. Many people have had it (be prepared for lots of swearing). Senior Management is very much out of touch - their current initiative to deal with the problems is to require all managers to have more staff meetings. Senior management seems oblivious to how bad things have gotten and have no clue as to how to fix it.
