Pros

- most of my direct co-workers were great people to work with - the (firewall\network) technology I was allowed to work with was "high end" - the pay I was given was decent

Cons

- Many hours, many on-call hours, little time for a family life, little regard for employee "quality of life" - Management is very disconnected from the employees (particularly if you don't work out of Little Rock) - High turn-over, and very understaffed

Pros

I like challenges, and I don't want to be bored, and I could routinely find both at FIS

Cons

Change in management was nearly constant, at least once, sometimes up to three times a year. Goals and direction changed more often. Compensation was below standard and not really competitive.

Pros

Lots of work from home - nights, weekends, and holidays. Fairly reasonable pay. Casual Fridays and jeans weeks (for donations) fairly regularly. Mostly good people in the trenches with you.

Cons

The workers work, 50+ hours/wk, but "connected" slackers abound. Cost savings on insurance have led to horrible plans with the "Biometric Police" which (based on another large employer in town's experience) appear to be designed to deny benefits after a couple years of "non-improvement" and "Toothless Dental" shopped out of Georgia, with copays higher than the percentage they cover. Integrating Metavante and Fidelity into one company is taking too long and it has brought bureaucracy and inefficiencies, not opportunities to the Metavante side of the company. Many folks have been working for months or even over a year with little or no management. All new managers seem to be in Florida, avoid the Metavante folks, and quit or shuffle teams when they can't make changes on a dime.
