Pros

They do give you a chance. If you never had any financial background that doesn't immediately disqualify you. I didn't have any financial background, banking or anything but they still gave me a chance and I was able to learn and move around in the company.

Cons

Some of the polices are too tight like their "occurrence" policy for sick. If you call in sick you get an occurrence. I was in the hospital and no consideration was given to that but I came back to a piece of paper I had to sign because I had accrued 4 occurrences.

Pros

There are good people in the organization wanting to do the right things. FIS is very client oriented, but stockholder driven. Many employees have been with the company for years and have a love for their applications and clients. Good place for gaining experience.

Cons

A top down push of unrealistic goals (when they are actually defined) with no capital to back them up. Many times it is up to first-level managers to determine what the direction will be, which then must be carried out by understaffed and overworked teams. If in technology support expect to spend no less than 3 weekends per month working off-hours maintenance with no compensation. Don't screw up or you will be the topic of conversation in*many* follow-up meetings. A large percentage of technology positions were sent offshore in 2012 and 2013 leaving skeleton crews stateside. A frightening number of the offshore technicians are some of the worst in the world (from support to security issues). There is a heavy amount of favoritism at the C and Executive levels. One is known to bypass the entire management chain to discuss solutions with "friends", which often leads to contradictions/conflicts with higher-level executives.
