Pros

It's the only job I've had where I feel like I actually did something meaningful at the end of the day. You get to play a part in helping the whole world move. There was a pilot that called back to say that I really helped him out around weather during an emergency. That was a great feeling to know that I helped him out and I've certainly never found that satisfaction or opportunity at any other job.

Cons

The training is long and stressful but it's meant to be that way. Also, it's shift work. That means rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays -- you're going to miss birthdays, weekend BBQ's, Thanksgiving dinners, and Christmas mornings. Get used to it.

Pros

It is the best career a person could ever want -- but you have to have the right temperament and aptitude. You'll know pretty quick if you're up for the challenge. If you can deal with the pressures, you will not find a more rewarding and satisfying job anywhere!

Cons

It makes an old man/woman out of you. You work for the federal government which is famous promoting people based on everything but their ability.

Pros

The pay is good if managers actuallty take advantage of the core comp pay.

Cons

Too much nepotism. Tons of MGR's serving in rolls that they lack experience in but yet force the employees to do the work while they take the recognition. Poor leadership skills.
