Pros

A good reason to work for the FAA was learning how to solicit service and supply-time contracts for information technology, construction and research contracts with colleges and hospitals. I learned how to administer assigned purchase orders, including change order processing, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and applicable regulations, invoice processing and verification, and performance evaluation; ensuring supplier compliance in a cost-effective, timely, and responsive manner.

Cons

I was unable to find any cons for working at the FAA. Everything I learned how to perform in service and supply contracting was a positive experience.

Pros

Excellent pay and benefits. Liberal time off, great health plan. A lot of paid training. I worked for a private sector company 15 years. The FAA concentrates on quality work over production. Good work environment.

Cons

Promotion is by who you know and pander to, not knowledge and ability.

Pros

The people I work with are nice.

Cons

No room to move forward unless you are actually in the aviation field, like a former pilots or mechanics. People have been there for years and do the bare minimum just to get step increases. As soon as things are about to change, people start retiring in droves to avoid changing or learning new technology.
