Not a place for growth

Pros

- Benefits (Health Care, 401k, etc) - Low technical performance expectations - Easy to keep employment

Cons

- Strategy to decrease US workforce - You will only find career progress in a management role - Conformance valued over performance - Politics and blind objectives around costs drive decision making - Technical skill atrophy (you will be required to work on or design technology in ways that don't make sense anywhere) - Lack of leadership (Titles mean nothing - view career path of Enterprise Architects on LinkedIn - no technical skills required) You will be working for an organization that is focused on perception and conformance above performance. Cultural fears to admit poor decision making; can't admit poor decisions (hubris). Highly pain in processes (think government processes). Politics runs the organization instead of being something that helps smooth relations between groups.

Pros

In the right group you get flexible work time management Inclusion and diversity is highly-valued Good place if you want to do and achieve little, feel indifferent towards your job and in return okay with below-average pay

Cons

Constant mismanagement of the people, projects, resources Low pay and bad raise especially in the SW-engineering industry Outright lying/masking in job descriptions and interviews Lack of seniority, teams with lots of incompetent and destructive members, the management have no intention getting rid of Ultra-capitalist attitude towards everything, do not see the value in long-time investments only in immediate returns Employees often being used, micromanaged and controlled Obsolete and by-gone era thinking in business management Hours and hours of useless trainings HR is unreliable and authoritarian The company wants you to do well with little to no support, resources, without any trainings and demotivating environment and expects full loyalty (whatever that means in practice)
