Compensation in oil and gas is ridiculous

Pros

The wage they offer is decent, sometimes better than other companies, but that’s because they struggle to retain people. Also, your wage will stay the same over the years and you’ll probably end up earning the same or less of new employees, which explains the frustrations of many team members towards newcomers. Hence, you’ll have to think if you would rather earn less money but work in a good working environment or face the music for a higher wage that won’t last. Plus, beware of summertime hires, particularly for languages spoken in countries where industrial production drastically reduces during summer. You might be there just to cover someone's holidays and then sent home because "you're not the right fit". More than one person had this experience and was left under this impression.

Cons

Most of the management there got to their position just because they have been sitting for too long on the same chair/department in the company. They have a total lack of interest towards their profession, other than their monthly paycheck, which I find intolerable when you manage people. Other than that, the company (or at least Prague's office) has a revolving door culture: they do absolutely nothing to retain their employees as well as new comers that are bound to experience discrimination like ageism, sexual orientation etc... or simply some good old bullying if they don’t like the new poor sod for whatever reason. The job itself is no brainer, anyone can do it (also considering the level of service and attention they give to their clients), but there’s a lot of bureaucracy. Keep it simple it’s not their motto for sure, they overcomplicate almost everything to the point that the challenge of the job it is not the job itself but to be able to stay behind all their internal procedures. The way they are organized is old fashioned and not up to date with today’s technology, so even if they try and implement new softwares, this clashes with their complicated and obsolete way of handling things. Their databases and even their CRM are not up to date with missing informations with the result of a messy and unprofessional way of working.
