Pros

I absolutely loved my job and company. Most of the people were very nice and well educated despite doing the job you could do straight from the high school and don't need University degree. Career opportunities are good if you're very patient.

Cons

Promotions based on years of service rather than performance. You might love your job but once you get 50% more of it than other people just because you are capable and there's no recognition to follow, this can very easily lead to frustration. Putting higher amount of work on high potential people while letting under performing ones through the system is just wrong.

Pros

Great pay & benefits - worked close to home and had many good relationships with co-workers.

Cons

The company is overly controlling at the sacrifice of production and accomplishment. No way to advance unless you buy into the sometimes irrational internal policies which are a drag on morale. Most older workers can't wait to retire and be free from all of management's non-sensical policies. As someone who was 2 levels above me once said, "ExxonMobil is like the mafia, it loves its people, but it loves its money more." If you are young and want to retire with a large multi-national company, look elsewhere - you won't be able to last the 20-25 years of life that you'll need to get there. If you are good at being a "yes man" you'll have a decent chance at advancement - Global Services is full of idiots who are obedient.

Pros

They proudly claim to recruit the brightest and the best, and pay them pretty well. They are on the mother of all diversity initiatives

Cons

Then they treat employees like idiots! For example: "it's dangerous to walk and talk on your cellphone at the same time"; "walking is working". Now they've gotten rid of toasters in the kitchen areas out of fear that we're going to burn the place down! The diversity initiatives is really only directed at women and gays
