Pros

Able to get resume building exposure to global work in a many arenas. Best time is years 1-3 and then get out and move on. No longer a career staying place.

Cons

Too many redundant processes, inability to make a quick decision without multiple layers of approval, sunflower mid level worthless management, cut the 401k match, low employee morale, tone deaf upper management, incompetent CEO, no longer nimble or able to react quickly to market, HUGE lack of foresight on management forward thinking and planning that began in 2010 and lead to the catastrophe being experienced today, heavy emphasis on moving US jobs overseas to lower cost business centers - no America first here - chasing the almighty dollar to the detriment of company - management seems to have forgotten core business is to find, extract, process and deliver oil products and overburdened themselves with needless "rules/processes" that add little no no value.

Has Lost Some Luster

Pros

Pay is still very good, development process can offer some unique job experiences.

Cons

401K remains suspended. Less mobility than pre-COVID. Culture rewards the wrong behaviors, mid to upper management seems adverse to or slow to change. Company has still not right-sized systems that were maintained in periods of higher headcount and expects all boxes to be checked, even if they add no value. New employee assessment system is driven by HR and Dallas with little consideration for feedback.

Analysts everywhere

Pros

If you give up and stop working they won't let you go.

Cons

Even though you are a software developer, integration engineer or any number of things, you are still a simple 'analyst' at ExxonMobil. This way their yearly market research shows their salary program is great while in reality they compare your complex work to low added-value positions. Very low compensation If you are working in IT and not in the US than you are a third tier employee for them, they do not care whether you live or die There are plenty of people who gave up and stopped working. You either do this or you have to do their job as well.
