Made some good friends, easy work, good work life balance.

Cons

Very strange culture. The organizational structure was ineffective. My boss had no clue what I should have been doing in my job - she didn't have the right skill set to oversee me, yet someone else in another part of the organization did similar work and I could have fit in her area much better. All my boss cared about were the hours I worked from day to day. As a result I had a lot of freedom but I never felt integrated into the rest of the organization.

Pros

Nice downtown Milwaukee office location. Best parking structure in the city. Annual meetings and programs offer interesting travel opportunities. 35 hour work weeks for my particular role. Quick to upgrade job titles (some people are "senior managers" in just a few years). Willing to hire recent graduates.

Cons

While many employees are constantly "swamped" with work, most tasks are simple logistics. Designing a brochure page, sending an email, or reserving a venue can turn into weeks worth of approvals. There is little room for autonomy or creativity, and too much micromanagement when dealing with the subtle details. Hand-holding may be the name of the game in association management, but it does not create for a productive work environment.

- Health insurance - Professional onboarding process - Many fellow employees were pleasant to work with and I even created long term friendships with

Cons

- Extremely high demand and stressful environment for low pay - Supervisors enforced unrealistic expectations, lashed out for trivial mistakes, and were a source of regular anxiety. - I was often questioning my self worth working here; often struggling to get out of bed in the morning - Any creative decisions that deviated from the company's strict status quo was often dismissed. Several of my suggested ideas were even hand-waved, as if suggested by a child
