Terrible place to work - run far and fast away from this place!

Pros

Health insurance paid 100% is the only pro of working here.

Basically every aspect of employment here is a negative. The partners are stretched too thin to really hear (or care) about your voiced concerns. Nothing gets done to mitigate the negative climate of most clients either. You are left to sink or swim, all while being paid significantly under the market rate for your position. It's honestly perplexing that they are able to enlist talent at any level given the poor compensation. Technology is extremely outdated to the point of dysfunction. You will be using outdated systems, programs, and equipment, while outsourcing the work to separate work "departments" within the organization. No, this does not streamline the work in any way. It makes the overall process more time intensive and cumbersome, and is entirely needless. Leadership is apathetic at best, and completely naive to the workflow and workload of their employees. This job will forever be the worst employment experience of my career, and one I'll certainly never forget. If you want to be undervalued, underpaid, and maximally stressed, then work here. Otherwise, take heed of these reviews and high tail away from this place!

Like Working in a Psych Ward

Pros

The benefits for single employees without families are excellent. All premiums are paid by the company for health insurance. They pay for parking after 3 years of employment, which is right in front of Cathedral Square, excellent location. Support services staff are pleasant to work with. They pay well if you negotiate but be careful because if they can find a cheaper fish, they will put you on the chopping block. Free coffee, paper plates, and plastic utensils in the kitchen.

Cons

They never learn. Year after year, EDI does the same things for SITC, fellowships, fundraisers, exhibiting opportunities and an annual meeting. It is the same thing every year. Are there recommended improvements captured from challenges after every initiative? Yes. Are changes implemented for process improvements? Absolutely not. If working in that type of environment frustrates you, move on to the next job opening. Matter of fact, during my interview I expressed my reason for looking was to find a more stable environment, and that my past supervisor had left the company after a restructuring. My interviewer assured me that this would be something that SITC could offer me. This turned out to be an outright lie. At one point I was told by one of the partners that my supervisor was not doing a good job. The situation was extremely awkward and unprofessional. Another time, I was in a meeting where a supervisor repeatedly reprimanded an individual on their team in front of other team members. So embarrassing. Not only that but they continued to reprimand the employee for the same thing repeatedly after their point was acknowledged the first time. How completely un professional and absolutely abusive. Worst of all is the abusive working environment that employees are forced to work under. Turn over is a huge issue. You will not be the newest employee for more than 3 weeks at EDI, especially if you work for SITC. The client operates on the chaos management style and micro-management is king. Burnout levels became more palpable than ever when I left, which I didn't think was possible considering one of my previous supervisors went on a medical leave for 3 months during the run up to our Annual Meeting. It is becoming a breeding ground for displaced workers from failed companies in the area, who are hell bent on bringing their own archaic and dysfunctional corporate cultures into the environment. I experienced 4 different managers in 2 years. Out of 32 employees I had seniority over 23 employees at the company within 2 years. Highly unstable environment for someone who wants to find long term security in an organization. Don’t join this organization if you value your mental and physical health. I had 2 co-workers in the communications department that had to be hospitalized because of the mental abuse they experienced at this organization. Matter of fact, I was experiencing the same symptoms from this job. I was prescribed anti-depressants because of SITC, but that still wasn’t enough to deal with the daily abusive business practices exhibited by the organization. SITC was the worst company I have ever worked for and am so glad that I decided to leave.

Nothing. Absolutely nothing good here.

Cons

EDI is THE WORST place to work. Pay and benefits leave much to be desired, in addition to horrible management. Expect to be micromanaged, disrespected, and unable to take ownership of your work. The turnover is extremely high. They get you right out of college, but don't fall for it! Seriously, working at a drive thru would be better than working for this company.
