You will not be valued

Pros

Most of the time, the work hours were not long and the office is located in downtown Milwaukee. The traveling was nice, but not worth it in the end. They do place a large emphasis on professional development and most items requested are approved if you are well liked by the management.

Cons

Don't expect to be valued here, as it seems that the motto of the management is that 'everyone is replaceable'. Maybe this is why there is such a high turnover? They hire young, pay you very little and the benefits are not very good, especially if you have a family and/or plan to have a baby. Most people do not last over a year, although I was there much longer. The organizational structure leaves a lot to be desired. The partners are in charge of a number of clients and are stretched too thin at times in order to adequately manage the executive directors. However, you will still be micromanaged on a daily basis by those that have less experience than you. They have many meeting managers in positions executing large contracts that they do not have the experience to handle, which could lead to major problems for the clients. No training is offered on this and it seems that the leadership at EDI may have even less experience protecting their clients. I also had some ethical concerns while working there, but these were ignored by leadership and by HR. Overall, I would not suggest starting here unless you are VERY desperate for employment.

Pros

I liked being able to travel a couple times a year, working in the heart of downtown Milwaukee and the client I worked for.

Cons

It's true, this is not a place that you'd go to make money but that wasn't even the part that bothered me. There was a very high turnover and there was never a clear description or layout of anyone's tasks, so things were extremely unorganized and I constantly felt like things were snow balling because of it. The worst for me though, was my boss. It has been a few years since I have escaped but I still remembered being literally bullied. I like to work but after a couple years at EDI I felt broken.

Pros

Made some good friends, easy work, good work life balance.

Cons

Very strange culture. The organizational structure was ineffective. My boss had no clue what I should have been doing in my job - she didn't have the right skill set to oversee me, yet someone else in another part of the organization did similar work and I could have fit in her area much better. All my boss cared about were the hours I worked from day to day. As a result I had a lot of freedom but I never felt integrated into the rest of the organization.
