Pros

- Staff on the lowest (my role) level/ Duty manager level are all super down to earth folks. Really fun to be on shift when the middle managers aren't in, The shifts go by really quickly and if you're at a Westminster site you're paid London living wage (i.e. £13.15 as of this post).

Cons

Unless you are really in need of money skip this place over. The centers have been stripped down to the absolute bare and i really mean bare minimum. The shifts are generally run on a skeleton crew just barely managing to get by. Receptionists are constantly asked to do tasks that are way outside contractual requirements (remember even if the contract has a clause which states you are expected to help with 'tasks' the task has to be moderately related to your current expected duties) I'm not a cleaner. The systems this company use are incredibly archaic, why on earth am i manually filling out paper payroll, overtime and shift sheets in 2025 when almost every other company in London uses automatic payroll apps like deputy? More often than not that means that the pay is messed up...i don't think theres been a single month where I've gotten the correct pay. To add onto that the company (since its paper forms) has to use a stupid method of calculating how your overtime is paid if youre on a 'monthly' contract and work OT. Seriously there is so much inefficiency in this company it baffles me middle managment act like they're gods chosen bunch every time theyre in centers. If you work on sales dont expect any commission for hitting sales goals. when i joined i was topping sales every single month for almost 8 months straight, the one month i decided not to try hard. One of the new hires who was buddy buddy with the manager 'miraculously' hit sales target and got the commission bonus! Amazing that the one month I didn't top sales he got it! But the worst part about working here is the blatant favouritism displayed by said middle managers towards employees. If you're on a 0 hour contract you better suck up to whoever makes the rota because thats the only way you're getting any decent hours. if you're not in their good graces enjoy the worst shifts along with getting fewer hours. Oh and remember the customer has no idea how bad management is, so every mistake they make it taken out on you. No notice of pool closures? Thats now your fault. Tennis or badminton courts removed for a last minute corporate booking, booking manager forgot to tell the customers he cancelled on? guess who needs to deal with them, thats right you! So if you enjoy being paid a bare living wage (assuming youre able to work 40hrs a week), can suck it up to bad middle management, enjoy being verbally abused by rightfully angry customers and enjoy doing way more work than you were initially contracted for then EA is the place for you! Oh and if youre a uni student or under 18 make it a habit to read your employment rights before you sign up, this place can and will do everything in their power to overwork you.
