Pros

Working for Eurest (or Compass, in general), safety is the number one idea taught to the team members. Go home just like you came in. In one piece. The overwhelming culture of the company is courtesy and respect. All of the managers, chefs, chef/managers, district managers and such have a respect for one another. All of the entities umbrellaed under Compass are known world-wide as a leader in the industry. They are on the culinary cutting edge. As a chef, you get freedom to tailor your menus and such to your cliental. It isn't a cookie cutter special of the month that every unit has to use. Eurest also has excellent opportunities to move to other units if the opportunity arises. If you have to move to a new city, state or even a new country, Eurest most likely has a presence where ever it is you are going. I have worked for more than one B/I corporate dinning company. I am glad to be here with Eurest. You will too!

Cons

There are things that I don't necessarily like that Eurest (Compass) has in place. I understand why they do what they do. I have been in business for more than 40 years and what they do makes good fiscal, business sense. But, what I would call a con, working here are the weekly inventories. It makes perfect sense to do them, but as a chef, it gets tedious at times. The other thing that bothers me, is that all of the computer programs, apps and such you are required to use on a daily basis are not user friendly. I am very proficient on computers, but these programs, apps and such need tutorials and one-on-one training to use. The only other con would be the auto-ships. Plenty of times during the year, you get automatic shipments of things that you did not order. It is up to you to use them where you can.

Pros

Positive work environment, great growth opportunities, industry leader & best quality of life for food service. Also the best benefits that I have had in over 25 years of restaurant management.

Cons

Must be able to multi-task & communicate with clients. Most accounts have a lot going on with corporate cafes & catering. When there are special events, they are a lot of work & can be long days.
