Pros

*Living in a new country *Friendly local and international staff *Training opportunities *Team building events *Fairly consistent work schedule *The job is EXCEPTIONALLY rewarding *A clear description of the path for promotions *The company splits the cost of health insurance

Cons

*Things can be very poorly organized sometimes. *The pay compared to other places is low but it is made up by having lots of teambuilding and free events for the staff *Not a con for me but for some, the hours are pretty late. You normally work from 10 or 11 am until 8:30 or 9:30 pm. *You get two days off a week but they are usually during the week. (Again, not a problem for me)

EF is a scam

Pros

They get you to China and make sure you're compliant to work and trap you into the self serving system

Cons

They are totally dishonest about every thing . Not only do they pay the lowest in teaching market in China, if you are Black and especially South African you get paid less in comparison to your colleagues from the States and the UK. They illegally hold your work permit so you don't run off and find another job. And if you think you can be sick, forget about that? You will be forced to come in and work even without a voice. And the racial undertones from your colleagues are all described as a "miscommunication". As a result of all this they have a high turn over rate. If you think you be travelling like their website says forget about it, you only get ten leave days which are even difficult to book coz they just want to stay and be a slave. The only travelling you be doing is travelling on the subway to work to mall where you will be working. Also they don't have a flight reimbursement, if you want to go home after your contract ends you need to save that from your salary each month. Signing with EF will be a big mistake. It's a set up into modern day slavery. DON'T DO IT. I definitely will be taking legal action against them.

Your experience with EF does not reflect our core values and EF’s ongoing commitment to providing the best possible work environment for all employees. In addition, our payment practice is that international teachers, regardless of nationality, are paid the same starting salary. In order to investigate your claims, we request that you please contact us at compliance.china@ef.com so that a full and fair investigation into your allegations can take place. Thank you.
