Pros

reliable pay, and maybe alright for getting your first year of experience,- if thats the case then work with adults- kids and teens is way more of a hassle- open doors, extra summer classes that being said- wall street english prob pays more for your first year

Cons

if you aren't that zany corporate cheerleader type you will probably want to projectile vomit within the first week- They promise parents that if they give EF a lot of money that their curriculum and magical foreigner teachers will miraculously make it so the students don't have to take an active role in mastering the hundreds of vocabulary words they will be introduced to. I met so many parents who assumed that the meager homework assignments and once a week classes was enough to guarantee their child would be using all the course language with comprehensive fluency.- It's like sorry folks- you gotta practice with your kids- review- and produce- review- and produce and review

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We dedicate a lot of resources to ensure new teachers are brought to China with the right support needed for a new and successful career. We understand that the nature of teaching young learners requires a high level of energy and committment to both the students and their parents. Regarding parent expectations, we agree that learning a new language requires hard work, patience and time practicing outside the classroom for any student. We encourage these expectations for students and parents to be set from the beginning of their journey with EF. If you have more specific feedback on this matter or would like to give further input please send us an email to teacher.feedback@ef.com. Thanks again for your time.

Thank you for sharing your feedback as a former teacher in Shanghai. We are sorry to hear that you did not have a positive experience. We appreciate the time you have taken to list the areas where you feel we can improve. We understand that the working schedule can be a challenge for many teachers at times, however, due to the nature of our industry we need to offer classes during peak hours which don't always align with a traditional working schedule. We do value our teachers and their hard work. We encourage you to reach out to us by sending an email to teacher.feedback@ef.com. We'd like to hear more specific details about your experience.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with EF. We're glad you enjoyed the international experience of working with people from all over the world and that you value the resources we put in place to ensure training, development and growth for our teachers. We understand that there are different expectations when it comes to salaries in the EFL industry. We make it a priority to review salary structures on a regular basis to ensure they are in line with local standards and allow our international staff to live a comfortable lifestyle in the larger Chinese cities. We also offer benefits such as ongoing training and development programs, health insurance, sponsored teacher events, flight allowance and a sponsored visa. We understand that the visa regulations can cause an inconvenience when you leave EF, but as per local visa and employment regulations, we are obligated to cancel work permits of employees that no longer work for us. We are concerned by the title of your review, as we do not stand for discrimination of any kind and would like to hear more details about this specifically. We encourage you to contact us at compliance.china@ef.com.
