Pros

Amazing equipment - top class design, research and development. Some great people to work with (senior management excluded).

Cons

Toxic workplace. Bullying and undermining of employees is accepted - even most senior managers won't stand up for an employee who is unnecessarily ridiculed or belittled in meetings. Poor managers are kept, despite their lack of people skills and/or limited knowledge of their job. Leaders lead and motivate with fear, not encouragement or celebration: they clearly and severely lack emotional intelligence, are condescending, and stab you in the back often. Not worth making complaints about it to HR because nothing will change. You work extremely hard, and make positive change, then get heavily criticised for it - because praise isn't worthwhile/valued. If you don't play 'the political game', then you're done for - get out while you can, or just stay under the radar where it's safe. If you have passion and drive for your career/occupation, it will be crushed. In hindsight, I should have run a mile when the director interviewing me for the job hesitated with my question "What is the culture like at Weir Minerals Australia?"
