Pros
The pay was decent, solid company, decent job security. It was actually a bit to work with my associates; they are the ones that kept me going for so long.
Cons
Back to the salary. When you break down the $65K I made a year, it really was NOT that great of pay. When you figure in the actual hours that I worked, I made about $12 per hour. I always thought that it was worth it because the bonus potential would make up for it. Not so much. I rarely bonused, even though I busted my butt each and every day. Market Leadership seemed to withhold a lot from the store managers. The expectations were there, but they would routinely withhold feedback, seemingly trying to trap someone into failing. It was a decent place to work, about 20% of the time. If you have a family or want a decent life outside of work, do not choose Wal-Mart. I do, however, have a tiny bit of faith now that Mike Duke is in the CEO slot. I love Lee Scott, but I felt that his hands were often tied, which showed down at the store level. :-(
