Pros
* decent compensation/commission * depending on the site you may have a great group of people to work with
Cons
* horrible life/work balance * constant stress - pay is not worth the stress level * constant threats of firing even if you are well within the job requirements * if your site is ever "under-performing' expect random and immediate requests for additional reports and busy work on top of expecation of additional marketing requirements, (read this as trudging through the snow to look for business to business connections) * constant and intentional understaffing * offered benefits but good luck actually getting PTO approved and forget about and actual vacation * requirements are unachievable with the money they are willing to spend and the staffing they are willing to schedule * they don't put money back into the communites the apartments are constantly falling apart so residents come in yelling everyday. Be ready to be called every name under the sun for things that are totally out of your control. * Overtime is not and option it is expected (be prepared to work Christmas Eve, New Years Eve, Saturdays... forget about them .Remeber you are understaffed) * they are constantly dangling promotions but I have personally watched three sales managers have the rug pulled out from under them. Been told they have to relocate or promotion is not an option. One was actually given the promotion but months later when she realized the pay increase never came through and went to HR corp denied that they even offered it was ever given and since she didn't keep a copy of her offer letter she worked for nearly a year with the title but not the pay. * my advice get everything in writting and don't throw away anything. * corporate is like a club, no worse, it's high school. There is constant gossip, drama, every one throws each other under the bus, favoritism is everywhere. If you are even associated with the wrong person don't expect any promotions or anyone from corp to even acknowledge you. * promotions have NOTHING to do with skill, knowledge or work ethic.... its all who likes you. * be prepared to have your moral compass skewed. You are expected to lie not only to residents, but your superiors as well more often than not about numbers that every knows are a joke. * oh and last but not least if you ever plan on quitting remember they commission is paid 2 months retroactly so remember you are leaving 2 month commission on the table.
