Pros
You are compensated well both hourly and with commission as a sales team member as long as there are apartments to rent. If you are lucky, you will have nice coworkers and they can make the job fun Working at a 3rd party site is ideal. This way you will mostly be forgotten and will not have to deal with the corporate office
Cons
Upper management is harsh and will harass you every single day if they don't like you or if your site is under-performing. They will call, send you memos, send you extra reports for you to complete immediately, send threatening emails, and surprise visits You will be written up for something within the first 6 months of working there. This is the only job I ever had in which it was normal to be written up. My fellow employees and I would laugh as we signed our write ups. The communities are not very well taken care of- so be prepared to take constant resident complaints over and over again. Constant over time- the hours are very long at VG and you will have to stay late all the time. I almost never even got to eat lunch. You are also expected to work almost every weekend. Unless you work at a very large site, it's hard to get time off. Whenever you get back from vacation, be prepared for your boss to be mad at you about something out of your control. Upper management lies about opportunities or promotions to get you to work at the worst properties by promising future compensation. Everyone is terrified of speaking to corporate since there is constant blaming and finger pointing. No one is willing to help you, but they are willing to stab you in the back to further their career
