It's a good company, especially for the area, but still has some work to be done. - Scientist Unilever Employee Review

Pros

Unilever tries to make it a good company to work for. They have a good basis when it comes to community outreach and volunteering. They do several days that are not counted towards vacation etc. as company, and also have an additional policy that allows you to take 3 days volunteering for an outside organization. Overall I really like working here. They are working towards encouraging cross-training and really putting people where they will do best. But, at the same time they are a company out to make money. Most of the time it's high stress, and goal orientated. One of the key sayings is that If Unilever only knew what Unilever knows.

Cons

At the same time they are a company out to make money. Most of the time it's high stress, and goal orientated. Many people feel guilty going home on time, and work from home to compensate. One of the key sayings is that If Unilever only knew what Unilever knows. They are new at working as a global company so working on communication is a constant. There are groups of peolple who don't do their job, leave early,. come in late etc, and that is allowed. It's frustrating to the people who carry the load and put in the effort.

Pros

Working with brands you grew up with is really exciting! The people I have met have all been amazing as well!

Cons

Everyone I have talked to are overworked and feel underpaid and despite the amount of work they do, there is no recognition or appreciation. Upper management is a mess and UL is constantly restructuring, often going from new BACK to the old structure while simultaneously letting people go leaving more people overworked. While most people are amazing, there are a few micromanagers where expectations are unknown. In addition, the lack of communication is awful. Often, I hear about certain cuts through the vine rather than directly from the people involved
