Pros
Work with a majority of young people, great way to make new friends. If you have a good relationship with your manager the hours can be very flexible and great for students. Yearly allowance on sunglasses and heaps of discounts. Good structure in the company in regards to efficiency and chain of command, POS systems are relatively easy to understand and integrate well between stores and across different elements of the store. A well oiled machine in general
Cons
Regional and state managers tend to have a chip on their shoulder, nepotism and favouritism is rife. A lot of sniping between upper management which tends to trickle down as gossip for sales associates which can erode respect for management and the company as a whole. Lots of buzztalk and pressure to achieve unrealistic KPI’s which everybody knows are unachievable but nobody will actually admit it. KPI’s actually used to be very achievable and boosted morale due to the feeling of success when achieving them, store managers could reward achievements and competition was healthy. Unfortunately head office decided to double the price of accessories and removed certain perks such as free cleaning solution refills which put a huge dent in the ability to sell a product that used to be actually very reasonably priced and a fair suggestion to customers.
