Good work/family balance, but don't expect to feel valued by your management. - Product Manager Siemens Digital Industries Software Employee Review

Pros

Our office is very good about promoting a good work/family balance. However, this culture is very location dependant. In our office, the majority of the people have families, where as in other offices, the majority of the people are single which makes large difference in the office culture. However, in general, the company to date has been very accomodating of people who wish to have a healthy work/family balance.

Cons

The management here are not too good at the "touchy feely" side of management. They're more interested in making sure that the shareholders get value from the company than they are about making sure that the employees get value from the company. This means that they try to give out decent raises, but often fall short, and that they never get around to doing proper career planning, retension management, or performance rewarding.

Pros

Many opportunities to move horizontally or vertically in the company - preference to hire internally. Professional, respectful, yet comfortable company culture. Excellent company benefits. Incredible managers that help you do your best work while keeping a healthy balance. Management proactively invests into your skills/career development. Once you are in, they want to keep you and invest into you, you have job security.

Cons

The work can often be uninteresting or feel disconnected, since you are a small part of a greater whole. Your unit may have a very traditional background and be behind the latest technologies. The salary can stagnate and fall below market rate with longer tenure.
