Pros

-Pay, in appliances, is better than I could be making anywhere else. -Allow time off when I need it. -Work around college schedule. -Appliance manager is best manager I've ever worked for.

Cons

-Pressure to sell protection agreements. -Will constantly point out when your numbers are bad for a month or two, but when they're above absolutely no recognition is given. -Bickering among managers. -Most managers refuse to help associates not in their department, unless they are the ONLY ones on duty after 2 or 3 pages. -Getting yelled at by management when you need in a lockup to check for an item. -Store manager works about 20 hours a week...joke of a manager. -Constantly having to give out/call hotline numbers because apparently nothing can be resolved in store unless we break a rule. -District Manager has a Napoleon complex. Will make a major change one week, change it back the next, and decide he liked it better when it was different and make us change it once again. -Constantly explaining to customers our fine print. -Getting yelled at when delivery/install/repair falls through. Our 3rd party delivery group is good, our installer has caused me 7 of the 8 install sales I've had in the last 3 months. -Morale is horrible, and the response is "just work through it." We actually have a giant "Because We Care..." board in our break room where we can make suggestions or just point things out. "Spot light in hardware end cap is out" has been sitting in the "Because we care..." area for about 8 months now...and yes, the light is still out.

Pros

Good team and good compensation

Cons

The contract is only for 30 days, so it needs to be renewed every month, and we always lose access during the process. This creates some uncertainty for us.

Pros

Working at Sears allowed us to develop strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills in a retail environment. We gained experience assisting customers, handling transactions, managing merchandise, and working as part of a team to meet sales and operational goals. The position also helped us improve time management, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting while maintaining a positive attitude toward customers and coworkers.

Cons

One challenge of working at Sears was managing periods of high customer traffic, which could be stressful and demanding. We occasionally faced difficult customer interactions, changing sales expectations, and the need to balance multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Additionally, retail schedules often required evening, weekend, and holiday shifts, which could affect our work-life balance.
