Pros

QE has a great client list and great cases for patent litigation, and for associates the job is an all-you-can-eat (and more) with respect to substantive experience. The people who work here, both at the partner and associate levels, are intelligent, dedicated, and easy to work with. QE puts on a week-long trial training program that is terrific. The firm prides itself on being a trial firm, and QE does take a large number of cases to trial. High billers are given additional bonuses, and the firm has a profit sharing program with an annual deposit into our 401k. It's still possible to make partner here. (QE made ten partners last year.)

Cons

There is little formal training outside of the trial training program, which results in a sink-or-swim culture that is certainly not for everyone. The hours can be brutal (even for big law firms), as evidenced by the 3000+ hour bonus tier. Associates must bill 2100 hours to receive a market bonus, regardless of quality of work. Associates are considered fungible, but that's just the nature of big law firms. The firm is also notoriously cheap with respect to support staff, office space, office furniture, and other perks. Although higher billers receive higher bonuses, the additional money is not commensurate with the effort, particularly in light of the PPP numbers and the bonuses given for similar hours at peer firms.
