Pros
- The team can create an exciting and fun atmosphere, if a team is constant for long enough. - Some control over your business (aspects of it).
Cons
- Without your PT hours, you have to pay more than you earn - meaning any time you are on shift, you're losing money. At the end of the month, your hours for Pure Gym always end up a net negative. - Very little to no support in terms of building your business - any reviews or meetings will often include words of motivation, general advice, 'mindset' advice, but not much about improving and refining your business. - Employees have less to say than members - you don't feel like you are respected as a member of staff. - No long-term benefits - due to the way the contracts work, even after a long stint of employment, you still gain no benefits e.g. pensions. - High turnover - often times before a team can find itself, people leave and move on, due to the harsh practices regarding pay. - Lack of control on shifts - if you wish to teach specific classes, if they don't align with PureGym's schedule, you are unable to. Classes often end up being cancelled for this reason, as they are at unfavourable times for members. - Lack of control of own business - in addition to little business support, some aspects of it are limited - your own advertising, own classes, and many other ideas are shut down. - Lack of care for professionalism within the industry - many trainers are able to get away with a lack of knowledge, sometimes leading to the injury of members, as PureGym needs people to man the floor, and so does not care for their ability as a trainer. This reputation of trainers being unknowledgeable and uncaring to learn causes issues for those that genuinely care and spend time perfecting their work.
