Had a nice feel in the beginning before the move to Clonskeagh. The company quickly grew and the culture inevitably disappeared. When companies get larger it all becomes about cost saving anyway. Jobs are now being exported to cheaper countries like Bulgaria where the salaries are a fraction of those in Dublin. I guess it inevitably lost the startup feel and the love affair was soon over. In general way too much politics. Meetings about meetings meant you had less time to do actual work and be productive. Blame games are commonplace. Gradually most of the smart people started to leave and took their many years of priceless knowledge with them. Lots of new hires do not have the required experience or skills to do their job. Business analysts have little or no knowledge of the products they are assigned. New features are often just poached off other sites so there is no real innovation. Everything was business lead so developers were not trusted to make technology decisions. Paddy power staff are generally packed tightly into large rooms. Personal space is a premium and the noise level is unbearable at times. Lack of parking is a major problem at the facility and exiting the park in the evenings is unbearable to say the least. Canteen food is expensive and not subsidised enough compared to other major IT companies. The canteen also became the largest meeting room in the building due to the lack of space.
