Pros
- You get to manage your own time. - The New York Life products are one of the best in the market. - Great training in Sales Development. - You are employed by NYLife, not by the local Dallas GO.
Cons
- You are sold nothing but pipe dreams similar to multi level marketing schemes. - Management is horrible and abusive (Our team supervisor would yell at us and call us good for nothing freeloaders). That's just one example. - You work 100% on commissions. - There are no real programs or help from the team leaders on prospecting. - Training is great on the Sales Development aspect but nearly absent on how to run the system. And the partners hardly know anything as well. - The turnover rate is unbelievable. In my two years with New York Life I only saw one agent that started with me stick. Even experienced agents end up eventually leaving the company. - Just like with Multi Level Marketing Schemes, you are brain washed into believing that the "next big case is right around the corner". But it doesn't matter whether you personally choose to keep running after that illusion, if your numbers don't help the office average illusion, they will show you the door. They will tell you that the main office in NY did not renew your contract (a lie), and when you stop showing up they send a letter to the main office saying that you quit. - The office culture is horrible. Agents look miserable and abused.
