Pros

Excellent work-life balance, competitive salaries, and benefits available (especially for it being a nonprofit organization).

Cons

Overall, the way this organization is run is extremely inefficient. It is too "top-heavy" and leadership often makes decisions without consulting those "below" who are deeply impacted by those decisions. The internal processes of the organization are also extremely dense which makes getting anything done very difficult and discourages folks from starting new initiatives or taking ownership of projects because of the immense administrative burden doing so will cause them. Excited and eager brand new employees who want to make a difference (which is why they joined NSC in the first place) quickly realize that complacency is the name of the game if you want to be happy here-- trying to make a real difference in your job will only frustrate you to no end. Just show up, do what's asked of you, and don't hope to do anything more unless you want to end up pulling all your hair out. This organization could be doing such good work if it only (1) trimmed the fat at the leadership level, (2) cut all of their internal administrative processes in half and (3) gave more autonomy to the "low-rung" employees to actually do their jobs, pursue impact, and make a difference without having to jump through 20 hoops to do so.

Pros

Remote work environment and flexible schedules. People who really care about keeping others safe.

Cons

Infighting at the highest levels of leadership is causing chaos for employees and the organization. Higher than average turnover rate. Major reorgs on an annual basis. No sense of direction or continuity.
