Pros

I've worked at the National Safety Council for over 7 years now and I can honestly say I enjoy my time spent there. I am proud to say that I work for an organization that is dedicated to saving lives and promoting safety. The employees are passionate and managers are caring. There was time when I needed a work/life balance & through communication and support from my manager and HR they were able to provide that for my family and I. I will be forever grateful! Time has passed and I was blessed with a promotion and have also seen others grow within the organization. Our new president is genuine, caring and dedicated. Within the few years as our president, she has turned things around. We have added new job positions, we are more involved with the media, our building has gone through a modern renovation and new and improved technology has been added to our meeting rooms and so much more. NSC has great benefits, yearly functions, flexibility, room to grow within and staff members who are all dedicated to promoting safety. I really couldn't ask for a better organization.

Cons

NSC should reach out more to drivers. Not many people know that after taking our online defensive driving course at www.nsc.org they could forward their certificate of completion to their personal insurer for a possible discount...of course each insurance company varies and they would have to find out if they qualify for the discount.

Pros

Remote work environment and flexible schedules. People who really care about keeping others safe.

Cons

Infighting at the highest levels of leadership is causing chaos for employees and the organization. Higher than average turnover rate. Major reorgs on an annual basis. No sense of direction or continuity.
