Pros

Nothing to share, there is no positive things working here

Cons

At the beginning I thought it was my job dream, but it was the worst experience of my life, my worst year. Since my first day, my manager manipulated me and coached me to do and say things unethical. She asked me to have a one on one with the Human Resources manager to complain about all office staff, saying things that she said and not me. My old manager made me have a bad impression about all the staff given that she was complaining all the time and she put me in an awkward position against all of them. She requested me to go into her office or a meeting room to have these long and meaningless talks where she was just complaining about all the staff and talking really bad things about everybody instead of talking about our job or things to make the office work better. Is worth mentioning that these talks could last as long as 2 hours! I need to say that since I joined Mayer Brown I felt threatened by my manager, she told me that I could have bad performance results if I was not having a good relationship with ‘’those above and her’’, I was afraid to lose my job If I didn’t follow her rules. Also, the managing partner at that moment (2022), made harassing comments to me. My manager just started to laugh when these awkward comments started, making them look like a joke of this manager partner when not!!! WAS HARASSMENT!! When I finally left this horrible place, I found out that I was hired because this managing partner liked me physically, but if I wouldn't have done what my manager asked me, they would have fired me within the 3 months of the period! I left that place without friends, everybody hated me because of her, even the attorneys didn't like me at all. I know this person is no longer in the Mexico city office because of this threat. When I quit, the manager partner was surprised I could find a better place, he even asked me how I could find a better place than there, If I couldn't do it by myself... super toxic place.  I can't confirm because I don't remember, but I believe in the holiday party they drugged me, I don't remember from 7pm to the other day... my coworkers said I was outside the party with this manager partner...so convenient isn't it? I know from my neighbor that I arrived home at 11pm in a taxi but still can't remember that night.. could lose my life, being raped, and my manager and nobyelse took care of me or what they gave me to drink.. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

Pros

Beautiful office space and decent perks. Provides solid industry exposure and can be a useful stepping stone early in your career to gain experience before moving to a more sustainable work environment. The benefits are good too. Parental leave options (18-weeks) which is rare nowadays.

Cons

Extremely poor work-life balance and a culture that often prioritizes billable output over employee wellbeing. Leadership and management can feel disconnected from the realities of staff workloads and operational challenges. Systems and internal processes are noticeably outdated, creating unnecessary inefficiencies and compliance concerns. Training is inconsistent, and support varies significantly by team. There is also a very noticeable hierarchy between attorneys and support staff, with accountability standards that do not always feel equitable. Many paralegals and support employees are expected to absorb unreasonable workloads with limited recognition or institutional support, contributing to high burnout and turnover. It is frustrating to see a firm generate significant revenue while continuing to rely on outdated systems and understaffed support structures instead of investing meaningfully in operational infrastructure and employee retention. Many of the day-to-day challenges staff face feel preventable with better resource allocation and modernization.
