Pros
The Qwest employees inherited by CenturyLink are amazing (those that haven't already left)
Cons
This is decidedly a small-company masquerading as a large corporation. There appears to be no real market plan and leadership is completely befuddled by the very large company they acquired. This is a very flat organization, so upward mobility is very limited. Salaries are much lower (15%) than like-sized technology companies and benefits are worse and more expensive. There is no career-pathing or planning-- and continuing education (at least in my department) was believed to be a "waste of time and money." Telecommuting was outlawed in my department and the Director who was put in place after the re-org had no background in our discipline-- and made no attempt to learn anything about it. Management in my department made no effort to communicate with employees during a very difficult re-org-- and in fact was/is mostly absent-- in my final 3.5 months with the company, my manager met with me 1 time to discuss my projects.
