Pros
Some of the best reasons to work at Kmart are the people you work along side. Some of them are truly wonderful.
Cons
The cons for this job were how broken the entire company is. It's broken from the leadership to the ground level. As a dying company unwilling to invest in its stores, in its employees and in its programs it sets each employee up for failure regardless of your passion, drive, work ethic, or effort. The stores are given budgets to run on that are impossible to work work. My particular store was often expected to run off of a complete store budget of $4-5k dollars a week. $3k of that went to the store manger. Sometimes leaving a budget that could only afford two cashiers for the day and a very skeleton floor staff. The store managers unfortunately are often relics from times when their assistant managers did everything for them. Now that most stores don't have that, they are left with store managers that never learned their own business and are just riding out the company's last days until the company goes under.
