Pros
It is an on-your-feet job, so you stay active. You work with a team, which can be nice if you all get along. Manager is understanding to an extent. Good benefit package and 401k match. The hospital environment is generally friendly and lively. On-call pay is time and a half. Clean scrubs. Coffee machine.
Cons
Very mentally and physically draining. You don't want to do anything at the end of the shift. You work primarily in the OR and Sterile Processing Department. The OR is it's own jungle, dealing with surgeons, nurses, techs, patients. Sterile Processing is mundane and repetitive, but can be calming at times. The management is not up-to-par. There were a lot of discrepancies between how they act with you upfront and how your opinion is valued behind closed doors. Not very much room for growth within the position. If you work the swing shift, there is no shift differential even though Georgetown gives a universal shift diff to it's evening employees...Crazy, right?
