Pros

As in most larger companies, one's work conditions are highly dependent on role, boss, and branch. This review is for KSI in Goleta. Those in experienced mid-to-senior roles all seem engaged and there are many lifers across the board. I've been here over a year and met many of the technical managers and engineers; from my view, it seems turnover is very low. Lots of interesting problems to solve every day and a culture that encourages self growth and recognizes high achievers.

Cons

Not a con, but a challenge: tech folks/managements collaborate with European (German) colleagues, who may see things differently. Expect the imperative case in many emails: not because of intent or tone, but mainly it's just simpler to write that way for non-native English speakers. If you're coming from the consumer electronics industry, it's a different culture and more methodical pace that what you may be used to. Again, not a con per se, just an adjustment for me. Not KSI's fault, but high local real-estate costs really shrinks the paycheck. Some folks bus in or drive 1+ hour commutes. This applies to most business in the Goleta/SB area.

Pros

Great benefits and company culture, frequent opportunities to interface with senior leaders and executives.

Cons

Roles and responsibilities are demanding, complex organization to understand, and requires in-office days if you are in proximity to a regional hub.

Pros

Solid steady company, generally nice people and it can help people advance if they so choose.

Cons

Privately owned, so many decisions are made arbitrarily, not always having to be vetted properly. Globally, decisions would be made that would not be in the best interests of the US market. Also, if you're an internal employee, it could be difficult to be promoted/advance within the company. You get stuck with new duties, but no new titles/pay.
