The worst employer I've ever had! - CSA John Lewis & Partners Employee Review

Pros

The fact the name looks good on your CV so you can get out! I'd say partner discount, however there are so many rules and regulations around this, and you are so underpaid, even with discount you can't afford to shop there!

Cons

The mid level management are patronising and cliquey, offering 10p bags of haribo for getting good customer feedback, and printed out gold stars for performance like the staff are children. The company don't care an ounce about its 'partners', refusing the raise the minimum wage they pay business wide, hiking up prices in their 'subsidised' canteens - 45p for an apple?! They refuse to give any time off to partners during November and January as a part of peak lockdown - but they will send you home unpaid on slow days like christmas eve so they don't have to pay you! They even threatened their call centre staff that if they didn't do overtime on Black Friday, it would affect their Annual Reviews (which has a direct knock on affect to any kind of individual pay rise). As for their pay rises, they are done individually and based on performance, or how they actually do it - based on the managers personal preference of the individual employee! It also doesn't matter how much work you do, I got paid CSA wage for doing my managers job for them. They only offer progression to the managements favourites, regardless of the work you've put in. For a'partnership', JL is the most unfair place I've worked, and moreover, they don't even give you a reference for when you leave - just a confirmation from H.O that you worked there between XX date and XX date.
