Pros
25% Discount off most goods Friendly non-management staff e.g. sales assistants, stock room assistants
Cons
Organisation - This is the worst organised business I have ever worked for. Nothing is ever right. You could also ask 5 different managers the same question and get given 5 different answers each conflicting each other. Pay - The rate of pay for sales assistants is awful for what they expect you to do. It is a few pence above minimum wage for most sales assistant even if they have been there for years. Stay Longer with no payment - If you have to work till closing time, you often have to stay an extra 10 minutes to lock tills and an entrance. You do not get paid for this. You don't get the time back either. Pay Review - A list of 'behaviours' that we must mark ourselves as. ( Bad, Inbetween or Good) Then a manager will say you have no evidence and argue for why you are not in the 'good' category, your in the 'inbetween', therefore you will not be given a pay rise. No Communication from Department manager and upwards Forced overtime (If the branch alters opening hours on the day your shift is, you will be expected to work the extra hours without being consulted) Systems we use to do our job are severely outdated Hardly any career progression within branch No Training - I have worked here for a number of years, when I first started I was given no product training, yet I had to sell these products to customers? I informed my manager, but she didn't care. Yet it is still happening today, management don't book you onto training sessions and then have a go at you because you don't know what to do.
