Pros

HR Policies: The HR has been very proactive in ushering employee friendly policies such as work life balance, maternity leave policy, etc. Facilities: The Mumbai office has a beautiful view and the office facilities (TT and Xbox)

Cons

Team growth & Career Paths: The team has not grown in quite some time and opportunities for team management roles are quite limited. The team management does not have a defined career path, instead they have a nice document which shows the various levels with expected competency Work-life balance (WLB): There is a lot of talk on WLB, but the sad reality is that late night working is a norm here (including women employees) and there is an implicit expectation that employees have to work on a weekend, if there is an urgent project Quality of Work: The bulk of the work is account prospecting (Creating lists), profiling (insurance specific) and creating data sets. At an overall level, there are very few people who work on projects which have a strong organizational impact Designations: There is a lack of a structured framework when assigning designations to new hires, therefore you have Assistant Managers (AM) with 2 years of work experience, as well as those with 6 years and 9 years (With no apparent distinction in work). This causes a lot of friction within the team, as the new lateral hires feel that they have been shortchanged Work Culture: The concept of constructive criticism is a sham here, as most post-project meetings / learning sessions begin with a comparison on “how I would have done the project”. As this monologue goes on it gets caustic and typically goes on till the point that you start self-flagellating and start toeing his narrative. The concept of grooming new talent is non-existent, with fresh / relatively inexperienced candidates struggling to get good guidance. Also, beware of the pulse surveys and HR connects, there are not anonymous, even if they claim otherwise Compensation: JLT definitely is not a market leader for pay in Mumbai especially for the skillsets required in the Strategic Research team. They generally are at the lower end of the pay-scale (you will get an idea during the negotiation with the HR)

Pros

People. Culture. Client relationships. JLT Re is a place for really good, talented people who want to develop strong internal and external relationships. JLT Re also encourages thinking outside the box and is looking for new ideas and ways of doing things.

Cons

Flat organization. Low salary bumps for non-producers currently. Internal politics. Your salary is largely dependent on your experience and your manager’s ability to fight for you to get what you deserve up the chain.
