Pros

The initial Service Based Sales training you receive is a decent introduction to the art of selling, especially for the twenty-somethings they typically hire. Outside of that, the pros are few and far between.

Cons

* Long, long, long hours with no thought towards a life/work balance. Pay is minimal and there are no raises unless you get promoted. * Stores are falling apart. Computers are old, slow, and barely functional. They're also drastically understaffed; it's not uncommon for a store to be run by only a couple of people, who are frazzled and worn out. Turnover is very high. Most stores don't even have a utility person, so you're expected to clean cars while wearing business attire. Most stores do not have dedicated cleaning areas, so you're stuck trying to vacuum in inclement weather. * Upper management only cares about sales numbers. The goals are so high that it's nearly impossible to hit them without being shady and unethical. Check your receipt: chances are you paid extra for an upgrade or a damage waiver that you didn't ask for. * Customers are often angry and hostile, which is understandable considering how often the company fails to honor confirmed reservations. Fleet can be very sparse and the Hertz corporation takes no responsibility to make sure cars are available. If you can't find a car at another store, you just have to stand there and let a customer scream at you. * Management does not care about you. You are a warm-breathing body needed to fill a spot and you can be fired for the most trivial of reasons. If things go right, the guy above you will take the credit. If they go wrong, you'll take 100% of the blame, even if it's due to things you have no control over.

Pros

Great place to work in tandem with other professionals in your trade, always had a feeling of "family" working alongside my peers. We come together when times are tough, this is very rewarding,

Cons

The current economic and geopolitical spectrum have been proving a challenge to this industry as a whole, thankfully we are a resilient outfit with the best people at the helm.

Pros

It is possible to make a difference if you are determined enough. Many engineers work hard and most try.

Cons

The company has a ton of tech debt that it recognized, but is not being addressed. Management controls the time, scope and so quality is falling. The people they have hired lack fundamentals understanding of software development practices. The company often will make decisions to save small amounts of money with their facilities and tools they give to employees without understanding the opportunity cost that was lost. Overtime is required. You can't work here if you want to have a family or keep your family from hating you. Title inflation is real. Many people are actually performing one level down from their stated title and those that are not are only not failing due to putting in crazy hours. Middle management wont stickup for their people to ensure they are not burning out. They see it happening multiple times in front of them and they do nothing.
