Pros
I’ve been at Guy Carpenter for over 2 years, and my experience has been generally positive. The role aligns well with my skillset and experience, allowing me to grow and contribute meaningfully. The company offers a supportive environment with talented colleagues, particularly in the development teams.
Cons
Leadership on my team has been a source of frustration. The “startup” excuse has been used for years now, leading to a lack of clear direction. The leadership team often seems to be improvising, which can make it difficult for the team to feel secure in our objectives. There is a significant imbalance in the team structure, with only one frontend developer to every 10 backend developers. Despite this, the workload is unevenly distributed, and the frontend developer often carries a disproportionate share. Some team members do not consistently contribute or attend meetings, and there appear to be no consequences for this behavior, which affects overall team morale.
