Pros

Employee Stock Purchase in a steady fast growing company, Decent pay plan, Full "Corporate level" benefits.. HR, Insurance, etc..

Cons

There aren't a lot of downsides fortunately Group 1 does a fairly good job at managing and running a business. My only issue is our current GM is one of the worst people you could ever work for. Sure upfront he fits the bill and is probably regarded by most as a great guy.. But us here are terrified of him both physically and mentally he is abusive. Group 1 took over the store back a few years ago and honestly that is one of the only reasons he's still here. There is really only one thing he is decent at (took a lot for me to find one compliment) and it's his ability to sell... If I wasn't terrified of retaliation like what he's done to everybody else who has tried crossing him. I'd come forward with the recordings of how he talks to employees and others.. quite a few of the people who left (after a long time of working here) have probably hours worth of recordings. Other then that... The other management team is pretty great.. Incase you needed to know this is specifically to the New and Used Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram dealership in Denton TX. Wish it would go back to the good ole days so I could just "Relax, and enjoy the difference"

Pros

There are unfortunately no pros of being a technician at this corporation when compared to other OEM dealers.

Cons

Group1 is a publicly traded company, this means they are only concerned with their bottom line. High paying jobs are funneled to low pay techs in order to bump up effective labor rate. When the stock price goes down they terminate people. There are an intense number of corporate policies and rules that you would not otherwise find elsewhere, that make your life as a technician harder, these policies are also set by people with 0 experience in the field. Everybody is paid just enough to survive, I have seen multiple techs with families that need to have a roommate to get by. There are so many terrible policies that all of the good technicians ultimately left for the most part. This company is just as bad if not worse than automation or lithia. Company advertises a 4 day work week an then makes you work 5-6. DO NOT WORK FOR GROUP 1
