Pros

For several years, I was deeply committed to my role at Group 1 Automotive. I consistently received positive feedback and commendations from various team members, indicating the value I brought to the company.

Cons

Despite my dedication, I faced numerous challenges. On multiple occasions, I experienced unprofessional behavior that affected my work environment. When I approached management for support, I was assured that the situation would be addressed internally. However, the issues persisted, and I felt that the resolution provided was not in my best interest. Later, I was asked to transition out of my primary role due to "changing company directions." Yet, after my departure, I noticed the company advertising for roles similar to mine, which made me question the reasons provided for my transition and eventual termination. Furthermore, I was disappointed with the HR department's role in this. I expected HR to be a neutral party that would ensure fairness and transparency. Instead, I felt they were complicit in the decisions made without adequately addressing or investigating my concerns.

Pros

There are unfortunately no pros of being a technician at this corporation when compared to other OEM dealers.

Cons

Group1 is a publicly traded company, this means they are only concerned with their bottom line. High paying jobs are funneled to low pay techs in order to bump up effective labor rate. When the stock price goes down they terminate people. There are an intense number of corporate policies and rules that you would not otherwise find elsewhere, that make your life as a technician harder, these policies are also set by people with 0 experience in the field. Everybody is paid just enough to survive, I have seen multiple techs with families that need to have a roommate to get by. There are so many terrible policies that all of the good technicians ultimately left for the most part. This company is just as bad if not worse than automation or lithia. Company advertises a 4 day work week an then makes you work 5-6. DO NOT WORK FOR GROUP 1
