Pros

Competitive salary (at least for now)

Cons

ExxonMobil used to be progressive company, but that changed in recent years. People are treated like commodity. Little prospect for growth, but this is mostly due to old nature of Oil&Gas industry. During annual review you will be told generic lines by your supervisor to justify your rank if you are in the middle or bottom. Work culture is toxic and employees bad mouth each other just to get a head (i.e. dirty competition encouraged by the new management) If you are at early stages of your career, and smart, then I recommend putting your efforts in alternate companies and industries that have better chance of success.

Pros

Good opportunities for networking and travel.

Cons

A significant HR issue between interns occurred during my internship and was handled very poorly. Once the matter came to HR’s and leadership’s attention, it was not officially resolved until months after the internship had ended. The VP privately apologized for the situation, but the overall response was inadequate and felt as though the situation was being swept under the rug. The lack of timely communication and follow-up created a very uncomfortable environment for a young intern and significantly impacted what was otherwise a positive internship experience.
