Pros
A business for new international teachers to get teaching experience.
Cons
→Franchise schools are not managed well nor are they held accountable by corporate. →Pay is very, very low with schools citing 'tier city' as the excuse to pay teachers a low wage. →Little to zero training for new teachers. →The focus of operations is on sales rather than on teaching quality so retention of students is difficult at best. →HQ makes salary changes on a whim and these changes are outside of the contract employees sign, but there is no recourse for foreign employees. →Several franchise operations do not operate honestly copying curriculum and accepting cash payments from families to avoid paying corporate fees. →No attempt from local staff to learn English, thus meetings and company correspondence is rarely, if ever, translated to English for foreign teachers. →Poor insurance coverage for foreign employees. →Franchise operations avoid paying taxes on behalf of foreign employees and make excuses instead of providing proof of payment as agreed upon in the employment contract. There is also no recourse for this mismanagement. →School facilities are filthy and in need of repair and deep cleaning. →School facilities are also not maintained to ensure the safety of students and staff.
