There are politics involved here. If you don't have the ear of specific people then you can kiss any opportunities goodbye, especially in the department I'm working in. You will hear of false promises and see the complete incompetence of particular employees on a daily basis, yet for some reason these people are kept around. Nobody knows why.
People are always working well outside their job descriptions. There is, of course, no additional compensation for this. Also, little to no appreciation. As far as I can tell, people, such as executives, have liked the work that's been done by us, but the team's treatment doesn't reflect that.
I've heard a lot about the company reaching profitability. If the finances are such an issue then why is money being thrown around so much? It has happened multiple times where a problem comes up because of poor planning and organization and the immediate solutions are to throw money at it to make it go away. Instead of using money on financially poor and shoot-from-the-hip decisions, invest it into the employees that are right in front of you and have the necessary skills to come up with solutions before a situation can ever occur.
